Set in spectacular berg scenery the Cathedral Peak Golf course was designed and built by Roly Taylor with the collaboration of his well known brother, Reg. The course which has been termed “the thinking golfer’s course” was opened on 13 January 1996 by Dayle Hayes. Featured in the April 1996 edition of the Compleat Golfer - quote –
“Few courses in the World have a more spectacular setting and although it clearly has no pretensions to being a championship test, it must be added to the list of veritable gems among our country courses”

Nestled in the unspoiled surroundings of the Drakensberg mountain range (a World Heritage Site) lies Cathedral Peak Hotel, one of South Africa's premier resort hotels.
Just 250 km from Durban and 400 km from Johannesburg, the famous Cathedral Peak Hotel is easily accessible to its many visitors from all over South Africa and abroad. Since the hotel first opened to guests in 1939, the van der Riet family has succeeded in offering warm hospitality, combined with exceptional service and value for money.
In addition the hotel offers a conference centre seating up to 200 delegates, a quaint stone-and-thatch chapel, reception venues and honeymoon suites.
Cathedral Peak Hotel boasts a magnificent 9-hole country course (with alternate tees for a full game). Set in spectacular berg scenery the 5,412m course was designed and built by Roly Taylor with the collaboration of his well known brother, Reg.
Under the continuous care of a full-time greenkeeper, the course retains its superior condition, and is continually added to with new irrigation systems, water features and new tee boxes to make a more interesting second round.
At present a full 18 holes is rated at a par 70 (71 for the ladies).
Golfing facilities at Cathedral Peak Hotel include a full clubhouse, with showers and change-rooms, as well as a TV lounge with fireplace and a full bar. The annual golf tournament is hugely popular with visiting golfers as well as regular guests and locals. Dress is collared shirts, and golf shoes are required.
Golf carts are available for hire, and there are two types of golf clubs for hire (depending on availability).
Green fees are a modest and day visitors as well as hotel guests are welcome to play.
