Since opening in 1994 the Prince’s Grant golf course has earned a reputation for excellence, including the regular receipt of the Compleat Golfer 5-Star Golf Experience Award, and being named Best Golf Development in South Africa by the World Property Awards. With large greens and impressive fairways, this championship quality course creates a completely unique and challenging experience for golfers of all abilities. The artful design of greens, hazards and bunkers make it an interesting challenge for the higher handicap, and provide ample risk and reward opportunities for the top golfer.
The course is a links / parkland layout, designed and constructed by Mr Peter Matkovich, and is laid out over four ridgelines overlooking the Indian Ocean. Sweeping, majestic views over the ocean view with spectacular coastal forest, to make this one of the most scenically lovely courses in South Africa. But it is the quality of the course design and the lovingly groomed condition of greens and fairways that make Prince’s Grant a bucket list course for many golfers. Prince’s Grant is one of those courses where you sit with a cold drink after finishing, and you are already planning how you will play the next round on this magnificent golf course.
There are several other golf courses in the area namely Amatikulu Country Club, Darnall Golf Club, Umhlali Country Club and Zimbali Country Club. Prince’s Grant also offers midweek golf packages and can customize group packages to include some of these golf courses while staying with us. We take pleasure in offering our golfers an Airport shuttle and transport to and from play away games stretching as far as Durban Country Club. The course is ranked amongst the best in South Africa, and the stunning coastal scenery, allied with the magnificent conditioning, makes this a “Must Play” destination for golfers of all abilities.
Prince’s Grant offers a variety of accommodation options. The 4 star Lodge boasts 15 beautifully appointed and recently refurbished rooms. There are 7 rooms on the top floor of the Lodge building, and 8 rooms are at the Umdoni Suites built very close to the main Lodge. The Umdoni Suites are perfect for golf groups and has its own private swimming pool and bar area. The Lodge also provides transport to and from King Shaka International Airport so that our guests are able to sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery on their way to Prince’s Grant Coastal Golf Estate. The lodge offers the Bunkers a la carte restaurant for more refined dining, or the option of menu service in the Mulligans Pub and on the verandas, which have spectacular views over the golf course and ocean. Rooms are designated either DeLuxe or Luxury, and Family Room options are available. All rooms are air-conditioned and have en-suite bathrooms and flat screen televisions with a bouquet of satellite TV channels. Rooms are spacious and comfortable.
Prince’s Grant offers world class facilities to its guests, including tennis and squash courts, swimming pools, canoeing on the lagoon, and 2km of pristine beaches. There are beautiful walkways through the forest, where guests can view wildlife or the 300 species of birds found at Prince’s Grant.
